Do I have to leave something in my will to my children?

No. In West Virginia, a person may include or exempt any person in his/her will. Thus, children may be excluded from a will. However, if a spouse is disinherited, that spouse may be entitled to claim an amount of inheritance set by law.

For more information, see: W. Va. Code §§ 41-1-1, 42-3-1(a) (2015).
